Postmaster Director appointed

A serving Postmaster, Hithendra Cheetirala has been successful in becoming our first ever full-time Postmaster Director and he will be part of the senior leadership of the Post Office, bringing his first-hand experience to the role.

Hithendra has been a Postmaster since 2015 and runs two Post Office branches in Central Scotland (Falkirk and Cowdenbeath) and a mobile outreach van. Working in partnership with another Postmaster, he also operates a third branch. Hithendra has over 20 years’ experience in various sectors including Retail, HR, Business Development and his last role was as an International Director in the University sector in Scotland.

Hithendra starts this month on a part-time basis and will take up his role fully in October.

Commenting on his new role, Hithendra said: “I’m looking forward to joining the leadership team at Post Office as the first ever Postmaster Director and use my skills and experience to improve how we work with and engage with Postmasters. This is critical to building a genuine partnership with all Postmasters.”

We’ve introduced this new role to focus on bringing the Postmaster voice into our day-to-day business, leading on meaningful and well co-ordinated Postmaster engagement. We expect the role to be occupied by a succession of Postmasters on fixed-term contracts, to bring Postmaster perspectives and be more inclusive in the way we make our decisions to benefit Postmasters.

The introduction of this role is another important step we are taking as we rebuild our relationship with Postmasters.
