Historical Shortfall Scheme: information on progress

Historical Shortfall Scheme: information on progress

We have published information on progress for the Historical Shortfall Scheme.

The scheme was launched on 1 May 2020 and invited applications from current and former Postmasters who believed they experienced shortfalls related to previous versions of the Horizon system. The scheme’s independent advisory panel of experts assesses claims and recommends a fair outcome.

Although many claims are being resolved much sooner, our aim is to provide outcomes to 95% of all eligible applicants to the Historical Shortfall Scheme by the end of 2022.

The table below shows our progress. The majority of eligible claimants have now received an offer.

We will update this information on the Historical Shortfall Scheme website and on our corporate website monthly. The data shown below is correct as of Tuesday 5 April 2022.

Please refer to the footnote references for additional information. Individual cases vary significantly in amounts claimed and in their complexity. Therefore published figures cannot be interpreted as an indicator of future payments for applicants or the overall potential cost of the scheme.
