Postmasters across the country are working hard to support their communities during this difficult time. From supporting vulnerable customers to fundraising for local charities.
A latest brilliant example of this is of Postmaster Polly Cox from Shalbourne Post Office, in our South West and Oxfordshire Region, who is going the extra mile for her tight-knit community.
In addition to keeping her store open seven days a week, Polly is also supporting her community by delivering food parcels from her Shalbourne Stores shop to those shielding and self-isolating in the community. This is part of the local community group that Polly heads up, called Community Networking.
They run a ‘shopping slot’ so customers book a slot and chat Polly through what they need from the door and she ‘shops for them’. She does weekly specials, breakfast boxes, meat hampers, fish boxes.

Any leftover produce is taken from the shop to the Village Hall where there is an honesty box.
Polly said: “it’s really important in this difficult time to reach out to people and assure them it will be okay”.
