Supporting disabled people – Purple Light Up

Supporting disabled people – Purple Light Up

Friday 3 December 2021 marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities - a day to promote the rights and wellbeing of disabled people everywhere and an opportunity for us to reflect on how we can be allies.

Post Office is proud to be playing our part by supporting the ‘Purple Light Up’ and launching the Hidden Disabilities Scheme – you can find out more here.

Last year more than any other, has emphasised the importance of caring for each other and the most vulnerable in our communities, something our Postmasters and branch teams do day-in and day-out when supporting customers.

#PurpleLightUp is global movement that celebrates the positive social and economic contribution of disabled people to the workforce and wider communities. This includes lighting up iconic buildings purple, holding events, developing workplace policies for disabled employees and sparking conversations about disability inclusion worldwide.

How your branch can get involved

  1. Show your support by wearing something purple on Friday 3 December; whether simply a ribbon, scarf, or other items of clothing.
  2. Display the Purple Light Up poster in branch – you can download the poster here.
  3. Create a purple window display or retail display featuring purple products.

Send us the fantastic photos of your branch taking part at cr@postoffice.co.uk
