We’re delighted to announce ScottishPower Smart Metering is our first major bill payment contract win for both the Post Office and Payzone bill payment networks.
The three-year contract means all ScottishPower pre-payment (known as PAYGO) customers who choose to pay over the counter will only be able to top up their smart meters in a Post Office or a Payzone bill payment outlet.
It’s due to roll out later in the summer – we will keep you posted.
Debbie Smith, Chief Executive – Retail, said: “I’m really excited about this win. This is exactly why we bought Payzone Bill Payments Limited and proves it was the right move to win more business in this important market.”
Andrew Goddard, Managing Director, Payzone Bill Payments Limited, said: “It’s brilliant news for Post Offices and for Payzone retailers alike, bringing extra footfall through the door. And we are finalising other new contracts too as we speak, so we hope to announce more successes very soon.”
What have we won?
The Government aims to roll out electricity and gas smart meters to every home in the UK.
ScottishPower plans to move all its PAYGO customers across the UK to smart meters and will start rolling them out soon. Once a customer has a smart meter, they’ll be able to top it up at a Post Office or Payzone outlet as well as on the ScottishPower app.
Customers paying ScottishPower bills over the counter will continue as they do now, so they can still do this in a Post Office.
What happens next?
Once we have news on the start date, we’ll update you with everything you need to know about how it will work.
We’ll also let you know about more bill payment contract successes as soon as we can.
