January can be a bleak time of year for some people. Christmas festivities feel like a world away, replaced by drizzle, dull diets and new fitness regimes, and it’s still nine weeks until the clocks go forward.

In fact, Monday 16 January has been dubbed ‘Blue Monday’ – allegedly the most miserable day of the year.
