A warm welcome
At 6pm we were ready to open the doors to the first ever Post Office People Awards at the Postal Museum. Our stage was set, the red carpet was rolled out, our tables were dressed – and the People Awards team couldn’t wait to welcome the guests.
Our evening started with a drinks reception which took place amongst the museum exhibitions. The significance of hosting the awards in the place that tells the story of our history was not lost on our guests, who were eager to learn about our rich history whilst celebrating our present. Highlights included mail sorting competitions in the train carriages, a look at how technology has changed in mail delivery and, of course, a trip on the mail rail!
Dinner is served
After a trip on the mail rail and some snaps in the photo booth, it was time to sit for dinner. After we all took our seats, our host Angellica Bell from BBCs The One Show took to the stage to welcome us to the event, followed by Paula. And the entertainment didn’t stop there – our magician also wandered around the tables, dazzling and amazing our guests with his tricks. Soon after dinner was served it was time to start the awards.
And the winners are…
After dinner, it was the moment we’d all been waiting for – the awards! All of our winners were welcomed on stage by a GE member, who thanked them for all of the work they’d done. You can find a full list of our winners here. After our awards (and a few tears) it was time to close the evening and hit the dance floor!
Thanks to everyone who made the People Awards a night to remember, and huge congratulations to all of our shortlisted colleagues who attended the event. The Post Office People Awards will be back next year, so watch this space for more information on how you can get involved.
