Fit and Proper forms – postmasters, have you sent yours?

Fit and Proper forms – postmasters, have you sent yours?

Thank you to all postmasters who have sent in your completed Fit and Proper declaration documents, we really appreciate you taking the time to do this.

There are still some postmasters who haven’t sent their forms in yet, and some who have sent in partially completed forms but we still need some more information. If you’re one of them, the final deadline of 23 August 2019 is fast approaching, so please make sure you send them in before that date. We have written to those postmasters again so, if this applies to you, you will have received a letter and the forms from us in the last few days.

If you have sent in your forms and you haven’t heard from us, you don’t need to take any further action, thank you.

Why do we need this?

We’re required by law to ensure our agents meet ‘Fit and Proper’ standards for the money service business they carry out – which covers Travel Money and MoneyGram. All Post Office Limited’s agents are covered by the HM Revenue and Customs requirements for Money Service Businesses.

We need your completed information by the deadline please so we can comply with the law and so you can continue to sell Post Office Travel Money (and MoneyGram if you currently sell it) in your branch or branches.

Even if you don’t sell any Travel Money in your branch, we still need you to complete the declaration please to comply with The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017.

What happens if we don’t receive your forms?

If we don’t receive your completed and signed Fit and Proper declaration forms by 23 August, we will have no option but to suspend the Post Office Travel Money service (and MoneyGram if you sell it) in your branch, and that would happen from 30 August 2019.

After that, we would only be able to start the process to restore the service or services once we have received your completed forms, and it may take several days.

So if you haven’t sent in your Fit and Proper forms yet, please do so by 23 August to avoid any inconvenience for you, your branch or your customers.

If you have any questions about Fit and Proper or need help filling in the forms, please call our dedicated team on 0333 665 1330 – they are there to help.

Thank you very much for your support.
