Creating a buzz in our Communities

A few months ago we spoke to you about CommonUnity, a campaign to celebrate the varied communities we serve across the UK. An impressive 2,332 groups, clubs and societies entered our competition and we’ve announced our 100 winners who have all received £1000 to contribute towards their communities.

Our competition winners have been great advocates for Post Office as they’ve spread the word about how we’ve supported their communities online. Here are a few of our favourite tweets and posts!

The campaign has touched all corners of the UK and has revealed communities of all shapes and sizes. And discovering new communities has allowed us to reframe the conversation on why community remains as important now as ever before, and how Post Office plays as vital role as ever in supporting them. Whether it’s vital access to cash in remote villages or ensuring that micro-traders can run successful online businesses in rural areas.

Debbie Smith, Chief Executive of Retail who was a member of the judging panel frames the importance perfectly, saying:

“Post Office branches are at the heart of villages, towns and cities across the UK so it’s really encouraging to see just how much a shared sense of community continues to matter in modern Britain. Our CommonUnity winners have shown real dedication to inspiring community spirit and I’m delighted to celebrate and reward their efforts.”
