We’re delighted that Barclays has just announced that it is reversing its decision and will be committing to the full banking framework for the next three years.
This is fantastic news for postmasters and means Barclays’ customers, along with those of the other 27 banks in the framework, will continue to enjoy free access to cash and everyday banking services in communities across the UK. As you know this is a lifeline for millions of people who rely on these services.
Barclays had previously announced that it was ceasing over the counter cash withdrawals at Post Offices from January, resulting in widespread criticism. This news really underlines the importance of the banking framework and Post Offices more generally in providing access to vital services within the local community.
We are delighted to welcome Barclays fully back into the banking framework and look forward to continuing to serve its customers in our branches for years to come.
