The community near Stone Post Office are pleased to have a local branch again and the occasion was marked by an opening ceremony with the town’s Mayor and Postmaster Devendra Sharma.
Mayor of Stone, Councillor Kristan Green was joined by the local community and Postmaster Mr Devendra Sharma in mid-October to officially open Stone branch.
The branch reopened at a new location on the High Street, which was previously a pharmacy. It has been fully refurbished to incorporate Stone Post Office and Stationery.
The branch is run by Devendra Sharma, is an experienced Postmaster, who also operates Rubery branch in Birmingham. Julie Sutton, who worked at the previous Stone Post Office as a manager, will also work at the new branch.
Mr Sharma, said: “People are very pleased to have a Post Office again and as we have been refitting the shop people have been popping by to see how work on their new Post Office was progressing as they have really missed having a branch in Stone. It is conveniently located in the High Street.”
Mayor of Stone Councillor Kristan Green, said: “Stone needs a Post Office and it is great to have a Post Office back at the heart of the community with experienced Post Office staff.”
Karen Coles, Area Network Change Manager at Post Office said: “We are delighted to be able to restore a Post Office to Stone again. We are very grateful to the support that we have received from Councillor Rob Kenney for helping us to identify suitable premises and for Stone Council to help to providing a temporary bus service to an alternative branch as an interim measure.”
