The Post Office branch network continues to evolve with new postmasters and branch teams joining the business to provide essential and convenient access to Post Office services to communities in their local area.
Latest to join the network include the team at Tenbury Wells branch, Worcestershire in Northern Ireland and Wales region.
The team opened their new store on 24 January, restoring a full-time Post Office to the town. It’s added even more convenience for customers and now provides more than 114 hours of service a week which is significantly longer hours than before.
The SPAR store is run by family-owned convenience store operator Blakemore Retail. Blakemore Retail Post Office Controller Stewert Waldron said: “As a community retailer we are delighted to offer post office services in our convenience stores; local residents can access a wide range of Post Office services during our shop opening hours – in excess of 114 hours a week. We are confident customers will be pleased with the flexibility and convenience of the new Post Office service.”
Damien Haydock, Post Office Multiples Account Executive, said: “We are delighted to be able to restore Post Office service to Tenbury Wells. We are also making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents. We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”
Harriett Baldwin MP for West Worcestershire visited the branch to officially open it last week. She said: “I am delighted to see a Post Office return to Tenbury and I am grateful that the community has been patient while we have had to rely on temporary services. Local businesses and local people have missed the service a great deal but with the new Post Office opening in the SPAR, we will get longer opening hours and in a very convenient location.”
