“People are so pleased, they’re popping in to say thank you”

Postmaster Sharon Fabry held an opening ceremony for her branch, Cullompton Post Office, Devon, with Neil Parish MP for Tiverton and Honiton visiting to cut the ribbon.

Sharon Fabry, said: “People are really excited that we have re-opened the Post Office. They are so pleased that they are popping in to say thank you. We have been busy stocking the shop. People like our range of cards, stationery and gifts. The wooden toys are proving popular and people love the old-style sweets. The community is really thrilled with this new shop”.

The new Postmaster, Sharon Fabry and her daughter Jeni Fabry both run the Post Office and their newly refurbished shop, now renamed The Pillar Box. The shop sells cards, stationery, gifts, newspapers, drinks and snacks. They sell old fashioned style sweets, including a range of sweets with their own brand, The Pillar Box. They also stock good quality wooden toys.

Both Sharon and Jeni are highly experienced at running and working in a wide variety of Post Offices including Ottery St Mary, Dunkerswell, Exeter and Woolbrook. Jeni actually grew up living above a Post Office, back when mum Sharon was the Postmaster for Ottery St Mary.

Neil Parish MP, said: “It is great news to have a Post Office in Cullompton again providing a vital service. The community is very fortunate to have very experienced and knowledgeable new operators. I really want to thank Sharon and Jeni for re-opening the branch and this wonderful-looking shop, which is very conveniently located”.

The branch had been closed temporarily since June 2018 for operational reasons. Now the branch has opened with the same range of Post Office services available as before.

Stuart Taylor, Post Office External Relations Manager, said: “We are delighted to have been able to restore a Post Office at Cullompton with convenient opening hours. We understand how important a Post Office is to a community to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking. We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. The Post Office is based within a lovely-looking new shop”.
