It’s important that we carry out maintenance to our systems to ensure they stay safe and secure.
We run maintenance to Horizon on an ongoing basis, but later this month we are planning to run a longer exercise at our data centres. It is planned to take place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 August.
This is a necessary test to ensure services would be back up and running quickly in the event of a major incident. It involves switching data from our primary data centre to the secondary data centre and back again.
It would mean Horizon will not be available for two short periods:
- between 6pm on Saturday 24 August and 1am on Sunday 25 August
- between 4pm on Sunday 25 August and 1am on Monday 26 August
You may recall we were planning to do this work over the late May bank holiday weekend but it was postponed.
We have chosen these times carefully, but we appreciate this has an impact for branches that are usually open at these times and we’re sorry if you or your customers are at all inconvenienced by this.
If you’re usually open on one or both of the relevant evenings, there’s a poster you can use to let your customers know in advance – there are different options here depending on your usual opening hours. We’re sending the poster out to the relevant branches as well in the next couple of days.
Read more details about what it involves in Branch Focus.
