Thank you to all postmasters who have sent in their completed Fit and Proper declaration forms, we greatly appreciate your support.
There are still a few postmasters who haven’t yet sent in the forms, or we’ve received their forms but the information was incomplete so we have asked for the additional details.
We need your completed information by the deadline please so we can comply with the law and so you can continue to sell Post Office Travel Money in your branch or branches, and MoneyGram if you currently sell it.
If you are one of them, please note the final deadline is Friday 23 August 2019. Please call our dedicated team on 0333 665 1330 so we can go through the process over the phone and answer any questions you may have, or please send in your completed and signed forms to arrive tomorrow, to avoid any inconvenience for you, your branch or your customers.
Why do we need your Fit and Proper declaration?
Post Office is required by law to ensure our agents meet ‘Fit and Proper’ standards for the money service business they carry out – which covers Travel Money and MoneyGram. All Post Office Limited’s agents are covered by the HM Revenue and Customs requirements for Money Service Businesses.
Even if you don’t sell any Travel Money or MoneyGram in your branch, we still need you to complete the declaration please to comply with The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017.
What happens if we don’t receive the forms?
If we don’t receive the completed and signed Fit and Proper declaration forms from the postmaster by Friday 23 August, you won’t be able to continue to sell Post Office Travel Money or MoneyGram in your branch or branches from around a week after the deadline.
After that, we would only be able to reinstate the branch once we have received the completed forms, and it may take several days.
If postmasters have any questions, our team is here to help on 0333 665 1330 (open 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday) or you can email them on email@example.com.
Thank you very much for your support.
