The Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Cllr Barbara Fitzsimon “cut the ribbon” on Friday 22 March at the official opening of brand new Westfield Post Office, Welwyn Garden City.
This branch has opened as part of an exciting modernisation and investment programme taking place across the Post Office network.
A community celebration was held at Panshanger Express, where the new Post Office is based, with free refreshments to mark the occasion.
Mayor Cllr Barbara Fitzsimon, said: “I am delighted to be opening this brand new Post Office. The convenient opening hours will make it easy for customers to do a wide range of Post Office services including banking transactions on behalf of most banks.”
New Postmaster Sanny Singh has owned the convenience store for three years and his customers have often asked if he could take on a Post Office, so they’re now delighted to have this brand new branch at the heart of their community.
The new branch joins branches in Panshanger, Welwyn Garden City and Pear Tree, bringing vital services to the local area.
Mr Singh, said: “Customers were really excited about getting a Post Office. The area has grown with lots of new homes nearby, so there is definitely the need. There is plenty of parking outside the store so it is very easy for people to do their shopping and Post Office transactions at the same time.”
