New postmasters Mital and Chirag Patel have already built up a regular customer base in their first few weeks, with around 600 customer visits a week to the branch in their Mayfair News store. There’s also been interest from nearby hotels in the potential to offer travel money, so we’re looking to trial on-demand euros and dollars there soon.
Tim Parker said: “I’m impressed. This is a great example of how a Post Office fits so well into the local community, as we look to bring more Post Office branches to more people. It offers a really useful service for the people around here. It’s a win-win for customers and the retailers alike and I’m sure it will be a big success.”
Chirag Patel said: “Our footfall has trebled since the branch opened. It’s been hectic – in a good way!
“We’ve already built up a good number of regular business customers and it will be great to offer travel money with the number of hotels nearby. There’s been a fantastic response from the local community and people are really happy there’s a Post Office here.”
We’re continuing to look for opportunities to open new branches across the country, particularly in towns and cities. We want to tap into potential customer demand in new locations like Shepherd Market and give more people convenient access to Post Office services.
