"Aylesbury has doubled in size in the past 20 years"

The Rt Hon David Lidington CBE, MP for Aylesbury and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster cut the ribbon on 10 May, at the official opening of the brand new Post Office in Budgens, Parton Road in Aylesbury.

Brothers Raj and Suresh Paranthaban run the family business, with the Parton Road Post Office being their latest addition. They have a lot of experience in the food and retail industry. Nine years ago they took on Kings Wine off-licence in Parton Road. Then two years ago they took on the empty premises across the road and opened a Budgens convenience store. They also have a couple of Subway branches in Rugby.

Postmaster Raj Paranthaban, said: “The community is delighted that we have opened a Post Office. Aylesbury has doubled in size in the past 20 years, so an extra Post Office was needed to meet the demand in the area.

"There are many elderly people close to this shop and they find it easier to get to this Post Office. The long opening hours make it very convenient for the whole community.

David Lidington MP said: “Post Offices are wonderful community assets and this new Post Office in Parton Road will greatly benefit local residents, both young and old.

Aylesbury has seen much development in the past 20 years and this new Post Office will help manage demand better. The Post Office will be open seven days a week which will make it very convenient for residents to access a wide range of Post Office services including banking transactions.”

The official opening was part of a community celebration with refreshments and a raffle in aid of the local Florence Nightingale Hospice charity, with prizes donated by local businesses.

Phillipa Newey, Post Office Local Relationship Manager, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to pay their bills, withdraw cash from their bank accounts, and send and collect their mail at a time and place that suits them best. We know how important our services are to customers, and this brand new Post Office will ensure that people in this area of Aylesbury have easy access to our services.”

The new branch aims to offer even more convenience to Post Office customers by extending the availability of Post Offices services in the area. The new branch joins Jansel Square, Aylesbury and Harvey Road branches in bringing vital services to the area.
