Group Litigation Update - 16 April

In our last update we promised to keep you updated with developments about the High Court judgment relating to the Group Litigation Order being brought against Post Office.

When the Judgment was handed down we made clear that there were areas around the interpretation of our contracts where the Judge’s conclusions differed from what we expected from a legal standpoint. We are considering our options for Appeal.

We also made an application for the sitting Judge to be recused – meaning removed - from the ongoing and upcoming trials on the basis of apparent bias. On 9 April the Judge dismissed this application and as a result we have sought permission to appeal this decision from the Court of Appeal.

We continue to believe that group litigation remains the best opportunity to resolve long-standing issues and these decisions won’t impact on any of the work that was already underway to improve the way we work with you. This includes investigating the problems you bring to us even more quickly and transparently, while also stepping up our ongoing drive to continue to improve our communications, training and support and we will keep you updated with how this work is progressing.
