Building digital confidence with Google Digital Garage

Building digital confidence with Google Digital Garage

Whether its difficulty sending emails or being apprehensive about how to stay safe on the net, we know that not everyone is confident with technology. So that’s why, in an exciting partnership with Google Digital Garage, we will be hosting events across the UK this summer to help support those wanting to build their digital confidence.

Recent research commissioned with Post Office Broadband found that 20% of the UK do not feel digitally confident. A fifth lack confidence using everyday devices such as a smartphone (17%) or apps (21%) and even 16% of 18-24 year olds lack assurance with technology. 73% said they would like some digital support to upskill and boost their confidence and we want to help!

We will be running a pilot series of six Digital Drop-Ins in the cities that we found were the least digitally confident: Plymouth, Cardiff, Leeds, Norwich and Belfast and Southampton.

Want to know more?

The events, which are completely free, will be held in local libraries and will offer people support in three areas:

First steps: Build your online confidence with support for everything from sending emails to all things internet

Safety online: All the basics on how to protect you and your family online

Device advice: Bring your devices or borrow ours for hands on support to get the most from your phone, laptop, tablet and more.

Those interested in attending, can find out more and register to attend on the dedicated Post Office Broadband Digital Drop-in webpage and or call a designated phone line (0800 068 1791).

In the weeks prior to each event, branches in the six locations will be sent posters to display on their Community Notice Boards. Local Libraries in each city will also display the event poster and we will promote each event on Facebook and through local media.
